DiH Mental Health Training was established because of the need to destigmatise mental illness and to get people talking about how they can help others who may have a mental health crisis or when developing a mental disorder.
Diane Hickey, Founder
Diane Hickey has been a Registered General and Psychiatric Nurse for more than 30 years specialising in health promotion, early intervention, mental health and education and training. She has a Bachelor of Nursing (Wollongong Uni) and Masters of Public Health (Qld consortium of Unis). Her passion for improving the wellbeing of people has spanned this time. She has training in Yoga, Mindfulness, ACT and CBT and works with solutions based therapies. She is Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
Diane has worked in a variety of settings in NSW, NZ and QLD including in mental health policy with Queensland Health, she also has a NDIS registered Mental Health Nursing Business in Tamborine. (Tamborine Mental Health Nursing Services www.tmhns.com.au)
Diane has extensive experience in training and education, she has worked for Universities in their nursing programs and provided mental health education and training to government and non-government agencies. Diane worked with the Queensland Police Service developing a train the trainer education package leading to every police officer in Queensland having basic education in recognising mental illness and actions to take. Following this she developed an on-line learning scenario for the QPS. Since then she has trained in the Mental Health First Aid training and provided courses to the QPS , all of the Queensland Health Staff after the 2011 floods and the Endeavour Foundation to name but a few. She is a Certified Master Mental Health First Aid Trainer. Diane has an easy, relaxed training style and the emphasis of this business is providing quality industry specific training tailored to individual needs as well as community based training.
